About your Anomaly Scan
When you are 20 weeks into your pregnancy it may be time for an anomaly scan. This is when our team checks how the baby is growing and where the placenta is lying in the uterus.
During the scan you will be able to see your baby’s face and fingers clearly and if you wish, you may also find out the sex too. Baby Scan Clinic’s team will make sure you receive a relaxing and positive experience when going through this procedure.
What to expect on the day
When checking your baby in detail we can find out if everything is going according to that particular stage of the pregnancy. The kind sonographer that will be expecting you will use warm ultrasound gel in order to make you feel comfortable. Afterwards they will inspect you baby’s development by checking certain anatomical structures including limbs, spine, heart and tummy.
Everything in the sonographer’s notes and related to the measurements will be recorded on a printed report which you may take home after the end of the appointment.
In case no clear measurements can be obtained, an internal transvaginal probe can be done. The sonographer you were assigned with will give you any further details.
Preparing for your Anomaly Scan
When coming for your anomaly scan it is not mandatory that you have a full bladder so feel free to eat and drink anything you wish that day, but please remember to wear loose clothes. The whole experience will last between 20-25 minutes.
